A Grid-Tie solar system ties into the power grid, pulling electricity from the grid when needed, then pushing excess electricity back into the grid when the local customer isn’t using the full capacity being generated by PV panels (Photovoltaic). As long as the grid stays up, it’s a perfect solution because it reduces or even eliminates the customer’s electric bills while generating clean energy. The basic science behind this type of system is quite easier to understand as compared to the off-grid system. High DC voltage has been generated by the installed photovoltaic module that has been fed to the On-Grid inverter that converts this incoming DC to stabilize AC at 230V and finally fed to the two-directional meter. The electricity which is being produced by the PV system will either be consumed by the household or, if excess electricity is being produced, will be sold to the grid. The two-way meter does two things, it records what amount of electricity is being consumed and it also records what amount of electricity which is being fed back to the grid. Enemalta will then first deduct the electricity that the household ’sold’ to it and then bill for the amount remaining. If more electricity is generated than consumed, KE will pay the household at the current Feed according to the off-peak and on-peak timings
